What's this physical/special stuff?

You mean these? physicalspecialnone

As of Diamond and Pearl, types are no longer physical or special; rather, individual moves are. Before, all moves with special types like electric would use the attacking and defending Pokemon's Special Attack and Special Defense to calculate damage, whereas moves with physical types like fighting would use both Pokemon's Attack and Defense respectively. Combined with the Same-Type Attack Bonus, which gives a big damage bonus to Pokemon using moves of their type, this meant that Electric Pokemon had pretty much no use for Attack and Fighting Pokemon had pretty much no use for Special Attack.

Now, though, there are some physical (physical) Electric moves and some special (special) Fighting moves, so you have to pay more attention to what Pokemon are learning what. Or you can just level your starter to 100. But then you're a tool.

Non-damaging moves, of course, are denoted by none and don't need any damage calculation at all.

How do I get these dual-slot Pokemon like Magby?

You need the National Dex.

How do I get the National Dex?

You need to see all 150 Sinnoh Pokemon, and then return to Rowan's lab and talk to him.

If you fight every trainer you see -- which you probably want to do for the experience and cash anyway -- then you will see every Pokemon except four by the end of the game.

Three of the four you miss will be the three fairy/elf/whatever? Pokemon, which you can see by visiting the islands in the middle of the three lakes after fixing all that.

The other one is the legendary not corresponding to your game -- Palkia for Diamond, Dialga for Pearl -- which you can see by talking to an old lady in Celestic City. I forget which house, but there are only like four there.

How do I get my friend code?

Get to Oreburgh. Go into a Pokemon Center. Go downstairs. Obtain Pal Pad. Talk to a girl on either side of the door and sign in to WFC for the first time, then check your pal pad anytime for your friend code.

Where is the Move Deleter? Day Care? Special person X?

Day Care
Solaceon Town, on the left. There's a building with a big garden where all the Pokémon are... twitterpating.
Move Deleter
Canalave City, just north of the Mart.
Move Relearner
Pastoria City, in the very southwest. Requires a Heart Scale, as usual; you can find them in the Underground, or slaughter innocent Luvdisc and hope for a few.
Name Rater
Eterna City, in a big building building down by the Mart. He's sitting on the left just as you walk in.
