It's a shame that there's so little story in DP (though if I recall RSE wasn't that much better either). My main gripe with DP was that Team Galactic had all this build-up and then they summoned Dialga/Palkia and just VANISHED. And then you go back to the HQ and (Saturn? I forget who) is all "Yeah, well, uh, I guess we were just being controlled 'cause Cyrus was SUCH A NICE GUY!" It was kinda pathetic how they just dropped the storyline at that point.

The photo looks legit enough to me. Story will no doubt be some awful nonsense about summoning Giratina. YOu'll probably be able to catch both Palkia and Dialga in this one, which would be cool I guess.

Platinum is a stupid name, Pokémon Crystal should've been called that. But I suspect that our translation on the name might be off slightly, who knows. I would like Pokémon Opal myself because Opals are such ana wesome gemstone (they change colours int he light! omg omg) but otherwise I guess it's just a name.

Also, this whole "Volkner is gone" thing sounds like pure bullshit. You can't jsut replace a gym leader. If it is true then the only thing I could possibly speculate is that Volknr has been promoted to the Elite 4, replacing that pathetic fire guy and someone else has moved into his Gym.

I seriously doubt it though.

I think the text read "pu-ra-chi-na", looking at it. I wouldn't have thought that leads to platinum, but I'm not exactly an expert in Japanese. If it were platinum, I'd have thought they'd add a "mu" on the end mind. Who knows, looks legit, or a good fake really.

Incidentally, though, it looks like this is a page rather than a cover - and the page next to it shows a load of trading cards which look as though they should be spread across both pages. I dunno, I'll not raise my hopes just yet.

I imagine this will be the case, much like Koga in G/S/C. He could also have a role similar to Cynthia, traveling the world, showing up at parts of the game to help the player. Or, he could end up like Giovanni, who also left his gym to travel the world, and was never heard from again. Whatever the case, it does makes sense that he is no longer a gym leader. He was pretty bored of it.


I believe they both knew Fire moves. This was done to throw the player off, and it worked. I like D/P's Elite Four, because they throw curve balls like that.

I'd agree on the D/P E4 being pretty good, it's the first one that's actually been pretty challenging actually, since before almost all of the E4 trainers would all be susceptible to single move knockouts (like Earthquake/Psychic against Agatha in R/B/Y or something, bar her Golbat for Earthquake).

As for the Volkner thing, they could move him to do all of Cynthia's stuff and remove her altogether, and have Jasmine (Steel gym leader in G/S/C if I remember rightly) make a reappearance like someone else mentioned in the shoutbox, I think. Trouble is if he replaces Cynthia, then technically he ought to become the champion too, as usually the champion is a character you find regularly through the game. I think him just outright disappearing would be the only way to avoid both situations really.

Unless they make him a recurring trainer in some new areas, perhaps.

Oh yeah. Um, here's the thing; Gold and Silver are metals, as is Platinum, ergo Platinum should've been the name for the third of the metal generation games. The generic name "crystal" was a poor choice in that case. Palladium would've also been fine.
And now we have Pearl and Diamond, two gemstones. There are DOZENS of other gemstones they could use so what do they do? Choose a metal... great... fantastic.

I specifically argue for Opal because of the way it is related to Pearls and Diamonds, or more accurately, not related. Diamonds and Pearls are notable for being colourless (unless you call white a colour) or of uniform colour (eg. pink diamonds, blue pearls) Opals are notable for being every colour they change in the light and shit, it's incredible. They're like the opposite of a diamond or pearl but at the same time not because they're still gemstones. Plus they fill the gap between transparent (diamonds) and opaque (pearls) with their "can only see so far inside" quality.

But no, fuck Platinum. I hate platinum I say we get all the platinum in the world, melt it down and use it as a fuel additive to reduce greenhouse emissions.

Eh, I have Diamond already. These third games are generally going to be picked up by people who haven't bought either of the first two yet but were tempted.

"Extra [insert stuff that doesn't change the game much]?! That seals it for me!"

But What if theres a new pokemon or something like that in the new game??

I'll trade for it? People who enjoy the game enough to buy it might not mind playing through it multiple times to get multiples.

There won't be any completely new pokémon, just availability on some is probably going to be changed. From the looks of things it certainly seems like Giratina will be easier to find, as he was completely unmentioned through the story of Diamond/Pearl (like Rayquaza was in Ruby/Sapphire, if I recall).

actually the newest one will have every Pokemon have every starter and have lv.X Pokemon. also you can't trade with other people that have the older games. you can only migrate Pokemon.
